Co-founder of Green Tourism, Andrea became a Chartered Landscape Architect in 1986. During the 11 years before starting Green Tourism, Andrea worked for a number of large environmental consultancies and developed skills in project management, computer aided design, IT and office management.
Jon has worked in the field of sustainable tourism and energy advice for over 20 years. Originally from Manchester, Jon started his professional career in Shetland where he established a successful environmental consultancy Shetland Environmental Agency Ltd. He is a co-founder of the Green Tourism Business Scheme and has a key role in maintaining the technical standards as well as training the Green Tourism assessors.
Following a career in the Public Sector, Neil decided to pursue the challenge of working for himself. Building on previous experience in Operational Management, Human Resources and Business Planning he now provides advice and training to various businesses. He works with companies, both large and small, in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Neil provides guidance in all aspects of human resource policies and procedures, business planning, recruitment and development, risk assessment and contingency planning. Neil is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, sits as a lay member on Employment Tribunals and is the Chairman of two locally based charities.
Stuart has been working for Green Tourism since 2007, since then he has assessed over 1300 businesses. He has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Toxicology and a Masters in Energy and Environmental Management. He plays a prominent role in mentoring new assessors and has helped expand Green Tourism throughout the UK & Ireland and most recently in British Columbia, Canada. Previously Stuart had experience in the manufacturing industry undertaking environmental and quality reviews as well as laboratory work and sales. During his travels Stuart can be found sampling the best of local produce, while in his spare time he enjoys walking, camping and boating around Scotland, or relaxing back home in Ayrshire on the West coast of Scotland.
Stuart graduated in 1996 with a degree in Environmental Science and Technology from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen and followed it a year later with a PgDip in Information Analysis. After working in many different roles including function and banquet management, he harnessed his desire for outdoor activities by training as a white water raft guide and represented Scotland in the 2000 European Championships. Following this success Stuart continued his passion for outdoor water activities by becoming a Powerboat Instructor with the RYA and obtaining his Boatmaster Licence. These qualifications allowed him to work in a number of outdoor disciplines including running team events for corporate clients. In May 2009 he took up his current role as a Senior Sustainable Tourism Assessor for the Green Tourism Business Scheme and to date he has audited more than 600 businesses. In his spare time Stuart enjoys hill walking, canoeing and keeps his hand in by driving a vintage steamship.
Fiona joined Green Tourism in autumn 2013 following over 20 years in the Scottish tourism sector. She has worked for Perthshire Tourist Board, VisitScotland and local authorities, gaining much experience working with visitors, businesses and in marketing & project development. Other employment has included a year spent arranging & guiding coach tours around Scotland, a summer in a busy hotel kitchen in Suffolk and work as a domestic energy efficiency advisor. In her spare time she loves exploring wild places, on foot or by bike. She is a member of the John Muir Trust and has a BA in Hotel Management and an MSc in Tourism.
Jane has been working in the administration field for over 35 years. She joined Green Tourism in May 2011, after working for the Forestry Commission for 24 years. Jane enjoys working with computers, especially using Microsoft Excel.
Louise has a degree in Economics and spent her twenties travelling and working overseas. She has extensive experience of business development, project management and marketing; particularly within the tourism sector. In her previous employment she was responsible for introducing a new Peak District brand and marketing strategy. Through her own consultancy business she also developed walking and cycling packages for the Peak District. Louise loves active family weekends and holidays; walking, cycling and exploring nature with her two children. She is a keen cyclist and is a regular participant in sportives.
Natalie is a third year International Tourism Management (BA Hons) student from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. She is our most recent addition to the team as our Tourism Intern and shall be with us for a year. Having spent the past few years studying the theory within the tourism industry, the placement year will provide a great opportunity to provide an insight into the sustainable aspect of tourism and how it may be managed. At Green Tourism, Natalie will be learning all of the ins and outs of all aspects of the company’s working.
Lyndsay graduated with an MA in 2006 and a passion for good communication. Her wide ranging private and third sector experience includes marketing and communications, developing social media channels, training, coordinating volunteers and running national projects and publicity campaigns. Lyndsay lived and worked in New Zealand for two years and enjoys travel, cooking and adventure.
