Standedge Tunnel is known as one of the Seven Wonders of the Waterways. Explore deep into this marvellous Yorkshire attraction on one of our underground boat trips, stop for a bite to eat in Watersedge cafe, and let kids jump, climb and explore our playground, wildlife garden and nature trail.

Standedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre, Waters Road (off Reddisher Road), Marsden, Huddersfield, HD7 6NQ

As the Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs parallel with the railway, the easiest way to travel to us is by train: From Marsden Railway Station, the site is just a 15 minute walk along the towpath of the beautifully restored Huddersfield Narrow Canal. By Car: Standedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre is located off the A62 in Marsden, between Huddersfield and Oldham.

Parking: Free parking at Marsden Train Station (HD7 6DH), from there take the 15 minute pushchair friendly walk along the towpath to join us. Disabled parking available at the centre.

By Bus: The number 184 Oldham – Huddersfield bus service drops off and picks up on the A62 in Marsden. From here follow the main road through the village to Marsden Railway Station and the canal towpath. For detailed information and to plan your bus journey see the Metro website here.

Groups: Due to the historic nature of the site, access by coach is not permitted. Please drop off at Marsden Train Station and enjoy the towpath walk.

Water Taxi: Huddersfield Canal Society run a 12 seater water taxi
service between Marsden Railway Station and Standedge at weekends and bank holidays. A small charge is made for this service. This service can also be pre-booked for group visits. Call 01457 871800 for more details. Please note this service is subject to volunteer availability and is not run by Standedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre
