The Ritz London has collaborated with CleanConscience, an innovative company set up with the aim of reducing waste from the hospitality industry from hitting landfills, by recovering partly used soap and guest amenities and distributing them globally to people in need.
The partnership with CleanConscience has enabled the hotel to recycle all partly used guest soap and toiletries from The Ritz London, which otherwise would go to landfill. With the assistance of mainly disabled volunteers, CleanConscience reprocess the soap and toiletries and donate it to charities in the UK and humanitarian aid agencies working in third world countries for them to distribute to people suffering from life threatening diseases that are preventable by the simple process of hand washing with soap.
In the first month of introducing this scheme at The Ritz London the Housekeeping team led by Adriana Milea embraced the project and managed to fill 14 crates. CleanConscience understand in detail the demands of hotel operations and make it very easy for hoteliers to recycle soap and toiletries in a hygienic and professional manner with complete transparency. The Ritz London continues to fill several crates each week with soaps and toiletries for CleanConscience to collect. The soaps have to be free from laundry fluff and not been disposed in a waste bin.
