Retreat, reconnect & regenerate in the green rolling hills where Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire meet...

Bronhaul is a haven of tranquility in the rolling green shires of West Wales. It’s a diverse and abundant valley of ancient woodlands, babbling brooks, flourishing gardens, rolling pastures and fertile wetlands. For many years, and for many people who’ve spent time here, Bronhaul is a place of retreat, natural beauty and biodiversity, deep peace and reflection, escape, inspiration, regeneration.

Bronhaul offers relaxing farmstays in our characterful self-catering cottages, simple ‘back-to-nature’ camping holidays in our bell tents and the healing benefits of time in nature on our land-based retreats. We’re also a small-scale working family farm, passionate about local food, sustainable living and working with nature.

Come and join us! Experience the farm life, volunteer, learn skills for sustainability, play, imagine, immerse yourself in wild nature, eat local food …retreat, reconnect, regenerate.

Coach House

We named the ‘Coach House’ based on its historical use as a rest-stop for weary travellers. Whilst renovating the cottage we’ve been very careful to maintain as much of its original character as possible. This has included the careful restoration of the original stonework and timber lintels as well as rebuilding the existing archways into striking red-brick features. The arches themselves frame views through the French doors out to the fields and woodlands of the farm and the beautiful green valley beyond.

The ‘Coach House’ has two bedrooms: a large, bright double and a spacious twin. There’s also one modern bathroom with a shower over the bath.  The entrance hall leads through to a spacious and very sociable open plan kitchen and dining area that will comfortably accommodate 4 adults. The carefully preserved stonework, wood-burning stove and comfortable furniture make the living room an extremely cosy place to spend the evening.

In the Summer you can enjoy evening barbeques in the your own large, private courtyard at the rear, which has a perfect aspect for catching the last of the day’s sunshine. In Winter, snuggle up by the wood fire, and while away the evenings with a movie, or a board game or two!

Rock Cottage

Rock Cottage, our renovated, characterful two-bedroom cottage the perfect home-away-from-home during your time in West Wales. It’s a warm, cosy home for a family or group of friends and a welcoming space to return to after a day’s adventures out in our little corner of Wales. It’s also well-equipped and functional, and you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable and stress-free stay.

Rock Cottage as you see it today was renovated from a ruined outbuilding in 2012. Named for the Welsh stone it was made from and the rock it was dug into, it was once a rest-stop for weary travellers and their horses on their way through the village, but had fallen into bad disrepair. We replaced the roof, restored the old stone walls and rebuilt the beautiful red-brick arches that are the proud face of the building today. We also made sure to install high-quality insulation, a biomass boiler and a solar panel to create a warm and energy-efficient space. It was a labour of love, and we were still fitting the last little additions as the first guests came up the driveway, but we are proud to have restored the building to its former glory (except there’s a few less guests on horseback these days ;))!

Yr Atig

Yr Atig is our characterful loft – a cosy, homely and calming little space to retreat into during your stay in West Wales. It’s a warm little studio, situated right above the hearth of Bronhaul, our wood-fuelled biomass boiler. Yr Atig, translated from Welsh as ‘The Attic’, is ideal for a solo traveller or couple just passing through or taking some time to enjoy the peace, tranquility and natural beauty of our little corner of Wales.

‘Shell Bell’ Bell Tent Camp

Shell-Bell, pitched high in our secluded hill-top camp looking proudly over Bronhaul Farm. We hope you’ll find our bell tent, inspired by our love for the Pembrokeshire Coast, a cosy, homely and calming little retreat space, where you can escape your busy lives, have a go at being a farmer and regenerate in wild surroundings.

Only in its second year, ‘Shell-Bell’ has quickly become a favourite among first-time & seasoned campers alike. Whether you’re looking for a real ‘back-to-basics’ experience, or to put the ‘glam’ in ‘glamping’, we hope the ‘Shell-Bell’ camp will meet your needs. Spend an evening under the stars by the warmth of an open fire, enjoy a simple meal from freshly picked produce in the field kitchen, watch the rain from the comfort of your bed or get stuck in to some work on the land….there’s something for everyone here at Bronhaul!

Brand new to the camp this year is your very own rustic Field Kitchen. Just finished in May 2018, it’s built from local roundwood timber & reclaimed materials. Equipped with gas stove, running water and all the basics you need to whip up a lovely camp meal, surrounded by trees, birds & great views, we hope that the field kitchen helps make your stay that bit more comfortable (as well as giving somewhere to shelter from the occasional rain shower…;) ).
