A walk through the gates of Cossington Park reveals a very special house surrounded by a Secret Garden hidden from the roadway. The 22 acres of extensive gardens and grounds lends itself to contemplation or reading a good book. How about archery, falconry, an owl prowl or a Victorian carriage ride across the Somerset Levels… or take to the air in a hot air balloon and enjoy the stunning scenery. The possibilities are endless in this green oasis and there’s plenty for the children to enjoy on site and locally.
Park House (sleeps 16)
Home to one family for 400 years, the house overflows with portraits and delicious antiques. Propped against the 250 year old Clementi piano is a Chinese bowl used to bath baby en route home from India. The grand old drawing room has cosy chaises longues, shiny brasses and a woodburner. In the Library artefacts from great grandfather’s ship adorn the fireplace complete with woodburner and there is seating for 22 around two large oval
tables. The cosy Snug offers more seating, an extra TV and games console.
The farmhouse-style kitchen is superbly equipped, bathrooms are big, (‘Great Tom’ has a Victorian roll top bath). Croquet, badminton, games field and children’s playground are available on the estate.
Park House has 6 bedrooms and is available on its own or combined with Park Cottage annexe which has 3 extra bedrooms including a ground floor bedroom. We can sleep 22 with extra beds.
Park Cottage (Sleeps 6)
This delightful stone built cottage has a light open plan living area opening out on to decking and a small private garden with barbecue and al fresco dining furniture. Of the three bedrooms one is on the ground floor. Boules, Jenga, Table Tennis and an children’s playground are all available .
Dogs are welcome in both houses and are greeted with their own welcome pack including a toy. Park Cottage has a walled private garden with a barbecue area. Park House has the kitchen garden which is enclosed and the main lawn which is open. There are rolling orchards and fields where dogs can enjoy a run. There are many lovely walks from the front door including National Route 4 which passes the front door. Walking maps and suggestions are available in both houses.
Both house and cottage have Wifi, TV, DVDs, games, books, telephone. Extra activities like, falconry, archery, hot air ballooning, carriage riding, quiz master, wine tasting, beauty sessions, catering, caricaturist, murder mystery evening are a few of the extras that can be arranged on site.
Located in the pretty village of Cossington, on the edge of the Polden Hills, between Glastonbury and Bridgewater, 5 kms from the M5 motorway, close to Wells and Cheddar. Beach 11 miles away.
