Higher Wiscombe Ltd
Higher Wiscombe sits at the head of a beautiful valley in East Devon, four miles from the Jurassic Coast with beaches at Beer, Branscombe & Sidmouth. The Five Star Gold accommodation is an ideal for exploring the surrounding areas. There are three cottages, one sleeping twenty & two sleeping six, all bedrooms are ensuite, & all the twin bedrooms can also become 6’ doubles.
There is a heated pool in summer, plus a games room and 52 acres at the heart of the East Devon AoNB to roam. The Flint Barn and The Old Winery both have a level floor that covers dining, cooking sleeping and bathrooms for those that wish to avoid stairs and all the cottages are dog friendly.
There are great restaurants to choose from, serving the very best in local food & drink, including River Cottage & Hix’s new seafood restaurant, all in easy reach. A new 150kw biomass was installed in April 2013 in keeping with our aim of providing both a sustainable holiday and a luxurious one.
Combining luxury with eco-credentials has lead to Higher Wiscombe winning many awards, including the Best Holiday Cottages at the Visit Devon 2015 Tourism Awards, runner up in Sustainability at the same awards and overall winner of the Best Dog Friendly Business at the national Visit England Awards 2016.
We have been GTBS members since 2006 and are really proud of our Gold accreditation.
Important Note for All Drivers using SatNav
EX24 6JF is a huge postcode and most SatNav systems WILL take you to the wrong property, or deep into Southleigh Valley where there is no phone signal. To avoid getting lost or unnecessarily disturbing our neighbours please follow the following tips.
Please, take a moment more, and either use the map provided upon booking, and sent out just prior to your departure or enter the co-ordinates below into your Sat Nav.
These co-ordinates will take you to the entrance of Higher Wiscombe, which is on a good road, just off the A375 between Honiton and Sidmouth.
Three formats are shown below (each line for each format). All show the latitude and longitude of the main road entrance to Higher Wiscombe:
N50° 44.16126´ W3° 10.57758´
N50° 44´ 9.6756″ W3° 10´ 34.6542″
You can also use Google Maps for “Higher Wiscombe”, and this will show you where we are located, but please bear in mind that we are ¾ mile off the road and can only be accessed from the Seaton Road as marked on the Google map.
After arriving at the entrance, head slowly down the tarmac drive for ¾ of a mile, beware livestock and pets and you will enter the courtyard at Higher Wiscombe. Please take great care over the speedbumps, they are in fact flood protection devices, particularly if heavily laden or you have a low vehicle.
For The Flint Barn parking is just before you enter the courtyard on the right. There are 2 dedicated spaces.
For The Thatched Barn drive directly through the courtyard, past The Thatched Barn on your right, then turn right after the sleeper wall. There are 2 dedicated spaces.
The Old Winery Parking is directly through the courtyard, past The Thatched Barn on your right and then you will see a large barn on your left. Please park in there. You also have an overflow space just outside the parking barn in front of the log store. There are 8 dedicated spaces.
If you need further parking please let us know, and we’ll point you in the right direction. Any questions on Latitude and Longitude can be answered on www.latitude-longitude.net
