Isle of Arran
|Telephone||01770 830 631|
Surrounded by hills on three sides, Lochranza Youth Hostel sits in an attractive lochside village in the north of the Isle of Arran. Close by, on a narrow peninsula extending into beautiful Loch Ranza, is the imposing ruin of a 13th century castle.
Lochranza is an ideal base for tackling the many trails and ridges of the Arran mountains including Goat Fell, the island’s highest peak. For the less ambitious the Cock of Arran walk, which provides a beautifully scenic low level trek, starts and finishes at the hostel. Experienced cyclists will enjoy the challenge of the circular 58 mile ride round the island and other activities on offer include off-road biking, pony-trekking, fishing, golf and watersports.
Arran’s only whisky distillery is a short walk away and wildlife is abundant with seals, eagles and even red deer roaming in the grounds!
Good value accommodation for groups of various sizes is available, but Lochranza Youth Hostel is also family friendly with private en-suite rooms, a spacious self-catering kitchen and laundry. It’s also a popular choice as a RentaHostel for Exclusive Use. A past winner of the prestigious Green Tourism Business Goldstar Award, it’s ranked as one of the UK’s top ten greenest businesses.
The youth hostel benefits from a great bus connection, with the bus stop only a 5 minute walk away.
Dogs are welcome when guests book a private room (small fee charged). Please book in advance to ensure that a dog friendly room is allocated.
