Mizpah Ecolodge is an open plan 46m2 newly refurbished lodge with a fully equipped kitchen, shower room, and living accommodation. The lodge is fully furnished with a double bed, a sofa bed, dining table with 4 chairs and plenty of storage space. It can easily accommodate 4 people. The lodge has free wifi, satellite TV and a small library for your relaxation.
Mizpah Ecolodge is built from engineered timber & hemp, walls lined with clayboard and oak floors, equipped with oak triple-glazed doors and windows with the latest infrared heating and LED lighting system, all designed to create the ultimate in low carbon living. We buy our electricity from Good Energy thus ensuring all electricity is sourced from renewables.
Externally, the lodge is clad with green walls and a green roof to enhance the biodiversity of the site, watered by rainwater harvesting. We have installed a nesting box with internal camera so you can enjoy the secret lives of the local blue tits and there are many Red Kites soaring the skies above to keep you occupied. The whole building sits on a recycled tyre foundation system and the decking is made from recycled plastic and rice husks.
The lodge looks out over open fields in a rural setting but only 2 miles from the nearest town of Wallingford and 15 miles from Oxford and Reading. It offers the perfect location for walking and cycling in the Chilterns that have an unrivaled network of bridleways and footpaths. You can literally walk all day without seeing another soul if you so wish. The Ridgeway National Trail is less than one mile away which runs along the mysterious “Grims Ditch” in this particular section.
There’s even summer canoeing on the Thames 3 miles away. You can explore the local castle in Wallingford which was where William the conqueror first crossed the River Thames to march onto London.
If walking or cycling is not your thing, then we are right in the middle of Midsomer Murders country and the village of Ewelme (Oldest Church School in England 1437 and the set for the film Les Miserables) all for you to explore.
Then there’s Henley with its world famous Royal Regatta and art & music festivals only 10 miles away. There are many gastro pubs throughout the entire area that serve excellent dishes and local beers. However, if you prefer to eat in, we can provide local organic food all sourced from within 2 miles.
We have bikes available if you so require to enable you to fully appreciate your stay and we can pick you up from the local train station (Cholsey) or bus stop (Lewknor). There’s always something going on close by
The lodge is just off the A4130 between Wallingford and Henley. The postcode is OX10 6PW.
