Mocktree Barns Holiday Cottages
Clive and Cynthia will be pleased to welcome you to our small group of self-catering cottages set in glorious countryside on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border. The cottages were once farm buildings and are set around a sunny, south facing courtyard with beautiful views over the surrounding farmland to the distant hills. We garden organically and encourage our guests to use part of our grounds and the courtyard for relaxation. We keep bees and are happy to share our knowledge of beekeeping with guests.
There are walks from the door in all directions. Dogs are welcome and we provide toys and games for our visiting children of all ages. All cottages have books and games to help you relax and unwind.
Historic Ludlow is just 7 miles away. We can arrange cycle hire for you or put you in touch with an excellent local cycle hire business. There is no shortage of things to do for all ages and we provide up to date information and maps.
Each cottage has a small selection of easy to use identification guides for flowers, birds and trees to encourage guests to enjoy the wonderful wildlife around us. We have further, more specialist, guides available and are always pleased to be able to use our own knowledge to help.
We are far away from light pollution from urban areas and see the night sky in all its glory. Each cottage has a star gazing chart to help our visitors enjoy it too.
Mocktree Barns cottages are easily accessible by public transport. We have a convenient bus passing our gate four times a day and we can arrange transport from Ludlow railway station. We offer a 10% discount for guests arriving by public transport. We are keen to support the Co-Wheels car share initiative and encourage guests to travel by train to Ludlow. Two Co-Wheels cars are available to hire in Ludlow – just ask us for details.
There is a well stocked village shop and we can arrange for a delicious ‘breakfast hamper’ from the acclaimed Ludow Food Centre to be waiting for you in the cottage. We can also arrange for an organic veg box and other organic goods to be waiting for you in your cottage. Ask for details of both of these.
Three of the cottages are ideal for a couple. Kit and Weavers are small and single storey. They are not specifically adapted for wheelchair use, but have been popular with many less mobile guest.
Kibble Mill, our vintage cottage, is a cosy two storey cottage for two which is furnished with a ‘hint of yesteryear’.
Our family cottage, Jinney Ring, can sleep up to 6.
Stable Cottage is ideal for a couple, but can accommodate a small family if required.
Our own web site gives full details as well as our availability calendar and tariff.
We’re very proud of our Green Tourism Gold Award and work hard to maintain and improve our standards. We are pleased to answer questions and to talk with our guests about any aspect of our green policy. People are often interested in our neat, but unintrusive array of solar panels. We may have honey available from our own bees and 2015 saw the introduction of a hot composting system.
We are on the A4113, Ludlow to Knighton road. See our own web site for full details of how to find us. Remember that we offer a 10% discount for guests arriving by public transport.
