Part of Durham University, the Oriental Museum is home to more than 33,000 objects from right across northern Africa and all of Asia.
The museum is arranged geographically with galleries devoted to China, Japan, Korea, ancient Egypt, the Himalayas, South Asia and Southeast Asia and West Asia.
Objects on display range from ancient Egyptian mummies to contemporary Japanese artworks.
The permanent galleries are accompanied by a programme of changing temporary exhibitions on a wide range of themes.
