St Luke’s Chapel

Supporting the University’s teaching, research and events

St Luke’s Chapel was completed in 1865. It was built to replace the original infirmary chapel which was located on the second floor of the hospital’s main building. Completed in a simple, gothic style, the Chapel has kept many of its charms including the beautiful original stained glass windows.

Today the Chapel is a shared teaching space and can be used for internal University events.

Travelling by bus The nearest bus stop is located outside the Chapel on the Woodstock Road. Buses from Summertown, Witney, Enysham, Caterton and Woodstock stop here. Many buses come into the city centre and the Chapel is approximately a 10 minute walk from the city centre.

Travelling by train The train station is located approximately 15 mins walk away. A taxi journey time is approximately 10 minutes and will cost you about £8. Brompton bikes can be hired from the station and it takes just under 10 minutes to cycle to us.

Travelling by car We have no car parking on site so recommend using the Park and Ride system. Details about park and rides can be found here. The nearest city centre car park is Gloucester Green car park, about a 5 minute walk. It is open 24 hours a day and charges apply throughout the year. There are three disabled car parking spaces outside the Chapel.

Travelling by bike Oxonbike is a scheme that currently operates in parts of Oxford where guests can hire a bike to get around the city.
