The Brochs of Coigach
The Brochs of Coigach are modern recreations of an ancient concept.
Brochs are Iron Age roundhouses peculiar to the Atlantic coast of Scotland. Scàl’s Broch is the perfect hide-away for two. Gille Buidhe’s Broch accommodates a huge open plan drawing room and dining area, a large kitchen, three further rooms, a large bathroom with sauna and shower and a second toilet. Each window frames a stunning view of the coastline. The leading German travel magazine MERIAN lists The Brochs of Coigach as one of the 100 Best Dream Destinations for Two in the world. They have been shortlisted by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) for the 2011 Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award which is, with a prize money of 25.000 pounds, the largest architectural prize in the UK and one of the most significant architecture awards in the world.
