The Harbourmaster’s House is a B-listed 18th century building, which sits next to Dysart Harbour, near Kirkcaldy, one of the oldest harbours in Fife. Opened in 2006 by Gordon Brown the building houses Fife’s first coastal centre, the Harbour Bistro and toilets and is the headquarters for Fife Coast and Countryside Trust. The coastal centre, located in the basement is designed to encourage people to explore the many features of the Fife Coastal Path. Its interactive displays show some of the history of the region and offer you “A dander around the Historic Burgh of Dysart”. It also showcases the links with our North Sea neighbours as well as offering everyone the chance to learn about the trading routes via our interactive North Sea Trading Game. The bistro, with its inspired menu, is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery around Dysart harbour. The centre is open 7 days a week (except Christmas and New Year) and is free of charge.
