The cottage sleeps 6 with 3 bedrooms , one double downstairs and two twin upstairs. There is a well equipped kitchen with electric cooker , microwave, fridge and dishwasher, also washing machine and tumbledryer. The sitting room has a wood burning stove ( free wood from our own woods), TV, DVD and free WiFi, also lots of books and games. The hall/ dining area has French doors into the garden, which has plenty of space for children to play and a path into little woods to explore.
We are proud to have a Gold Green Tourism Award and strive to be as Eco friendly as possible . We have photovoltaic panels on the roof and a windturbine on our hill, the lights are all low energy or LED, we recycle as much as possible and clean using ecover products.We use only cotton bed linen and are striving to be plastic free. We also now have an electric car charge point. The RSPB have done a farm bird survey and we follow their recommendations to encourage wildlife.Through the Environmental Farming Scheme we have also planted a new hedge and a tree corridor to make a walking track round the farm and through our oak woods for visitors to enjoy. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the Strangford Lough and Down area with lovely local walks and cycle rides. We have lots of information and good local maps for our guests to use and a lock up shed for bikes and sports gear.
Come and visit interesting places National Trust properties, find out about Saint Patrick and visit his grave in Downpatrick, picnic on a sandy beach, go climbing in the Mourne Mountains, or on a boat trip in Strangford Lough, even visit Titanic Belfast, or go on Game of Thrones Tour. From Belfast follow the signs to Downpatrick. Go through Saintfield.
At Crossgar turn left at mini roundabout to go towards Killyleagh
After 3 miles pass group of cottages on the left .
Immediately after turn left up Ardigon Rd
At first cross roads turn left onto Jericho Rd
We are first lane on left. The Hill 32 and white horse on the gatepost.
Note small wind-turbine on the hill behind the farm house.
Drive up into the yard The Hill Cottage is at the back of the yard.
Plenty of secure parking next to back door of the cottage.
