The Royal Yacht Britannia was launched from Clydebank on 16 April, 1953. For over 44 years she served the Royal Family, travelling over one million miles to become one of the most famous ships in the world. To Her Majesty The Queen, Britannia proved to be the perfect Royal residence for glittering state visits, official receptions, Royal honeymoons and relaxing family holidays. Now berthed in Edinburgh, you can visit Britannia, Scotland’s Best Visitor Attraction (VisitScotland) and follow in the footsteps of Royalty to discover the heart and soul of this most special of Royal residences.

You’ll receive a truly warm welcome at the Visitor Centre in Ocean Terminal, as well as a complimentary audio handset tour, covering Britannia’s five main decks. Britannia is also fully accessible with lifts and ramps throughout. The wonderful Royal Deck Tea Room serves freshly prepared home-made produce with stunning views across the Firth of Forth, and our NAAFI has some incredible fudge available to purchase!

Travelling by bike?

Leave the car at home and cycle along the traffic-free Water of Leith. Bike racks outside Ocean Terminal. For cycle routes, see CycleStreets or Spokes. For bike hire, contact the Leith Cycle Company or Bike Trax.

Travelling by bus?

Lothian Bus services from Edinburgh city centre are 11, 22 or 35. Alternatively, Majestic Tour buses depart from Waverley Bridge in Edinburgh city centre. Show your Majestic Tour bus ticket for 10% off your Britannia admission. The Majestic Tour Bus is operated by Edinburgh Bus Tours.

Travelling by train?

The nearest train station is Edinburgh Waverley. Or, why not travel in style to Edinburgh with Orient-Express.

Travelling by car?

For satnav, our postcode is EH6 6JJ. Follow signs for Edinburgh and Leith, or North Edinburgh. Then follow brown Britannia signs. Free parking at Ocean Terminal (blue car park, level E is nearest to our Visitor Centre and has disabled spaces).

Travelling by plane?

Britannia is approximately 40 minutes’ drive from Edinburgh Airport.

Travelling by cruise ship?

If you are berthed in Leith, our Visitor Centre is inside Ocean Terminal. 5 minutes’ walk from your cruise ship. If you are berthed at South Queensferry, take a shuttle bus to Edinburgh and catch no. 22 bus to Ocean Terminal. A taxi will cost approximately £35 and take 30 minutes to 1 hour (depending on traffic).
