What your membership includes

You will have access to:

How certification works

Membership gives you a clear programme and a named point of contact.

1. Membership confirmed: Once your application is complete and we have received your first year’s membership fees, we will introduce you to a dedicated Green Tourism Advisor who will guide you through the programme.

2: Readiness Check: After you join, complete a Readiness Check – a whole-business self-assessment that sets your starting point and feeds into the modules.

3. Complete the modules: Use the GreenCheck portal to work through 10 practical ESG modules, record actions and upload evidence. Your advisor will help you understand the criteria and identify improvements.

4. Independent audit: When the modules are complete, your your evidence is audited by Green Business UK Ltd, the certification body. It is a separate company from the scheme owner, Green Tourism Certified Ltd, and makes all certification decisions. Auditors never advise the businesses they audit.

5. Certification and continuing support: A successful audit leads to Green Tourism Certified status. Your membership continues with access to tools, resources and expert guidance to support further improvement.

Individual businesses

Accommodation providers, attractions, restaurants, venues, tour operators and other visitor economy businesses can apply for individual membership. The programme is structured around your organisation and its sustainability priorities.

Groups and multi-site businesses

For organisations operating across multiple sites, we can coordinate sustainability activity and certification across the portfolio. Group-wide actions and reporting can sit alongside site-level evidence, giving you consistency while recognising the needs of each property.

Discounted rates are available for groups and multi-site businesses.

Membership fees

Membership starts at £13.75 + VAT per month, per site. Fees are based on the size of your business.

An £85 + VAT joining fee applies per site. This is included within the first year’s membership fees.
