30 Days Wild – 1st – 30th June

A month-long challenge that encourages people to connect with nature by doing one “wild” activity a day, whether big or small, from noticing the wildlife in their garden to taking simple actions to support the natural world around them.

Marketing tip: Share your daily “wild” activity on social media, whether it’s spotting the different bird species in your outdoor space, or promoting nearby woodland or beach walks for your guests.

World Environment Day – Friday 5th June

An annual global initiate led by the United Nations to raise awareness and inspire action to protect the environment. It brings together businesses, communities and individuals worldwide to take meaningful steps towards a more sustainable and healthier planet.

Marketing tip: Share behind-the-scenes photos and videos of your eco-friendly practices, such as waste reduction, motion-sensor lighting or locally sourced food and drink.

World Oceans Day – Monday 8th June

A global movement that brings people and organisations together to celebrate the ocean and take action to protect it. It highlights the ocean’s vital role in supporting life, regulating the climate, and sustaining livelihoods, while encouraging collective efforts to conserve and restore marine ecosystems for the future.

Marketing tip: Highlight the sustainable seafood options on your menu, or share stories from your local, responsible seafood suppliers. You could also host or attend a local beach or river clean-up.

Bike Week – Tuesday 9th – Monday 15th June

An annual celebration that promotes cycling as a fun, healthy and environmentally friendly way to travel. It encourages people of all ages to get on a bike, enjoy the benefits of active travel, and reduce their carbon footprint.

Marketing tip: Highlight local cycling routes and on-site bike storage for guests. Encourage your guests to share their own photos of their local bike rides too!

World Refill Day – Tuesday 16th June

A global day of action that encourages people to reduce single-use plastic and embrace reuse, refill and return systems as part of a more sustainable future. It aims to highlight practical solutions that help stop waste before it starts, and encourage a shift towards a low-waste economy.

Marketing tip: Showcase the ways you’ve replaced single-use plastics with reusable or refillable alternatives, for example refillable bathroom toiletries.

Clean Air Day – Thursday 18th June

Clean Air Day raises awareness of the health impacts of air pollution and promotes practical steps to combat this, such as choosing cleaner travel options and reducing vehicle emisisons.

Marketing tip: Share public transport routes on social media and in your booking confirmation emails. You could also share information about walking routes to places of interest, highlighting how easy it is to explore locally without using a car.

Plastic Free July – 1st – 31st July

A global month-long campaign encouraging the reduction of single-use plastics through simple everyday changes.

Marketing tip: Encourage guests to bring in refillable bottles or coffee cups, or highlight local suppliers who use minimal plastic packaging.

Love Parks Week – Friday 24th July – Sunday 2nd August

This annual campaign celebrates the UK’s parks and green spaces, encouraging people to get out, enjoy their local parks, and recognise the work of the staff and volunteers who care for these important public spaces.

Marketing tip: Promote nearby parks and green spaces online and at check-in. If you have your own green space, you could create a post or video featuring your gardeners or grounds team to showcase the care and effort that goes into maintaining it.
