For Hinxton Hall Conference Centre, sustainability isn’t a one-off project; it’s an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.

Having achieved Silver Green Meetings certification in 2023, the team set out to build on that success by embedding sustainability more deeply across every aspect of the venue. Three years later, that commitment has been recognised with the highest level of Green Meetings certification – Gold.
Their progress is reflected not only in the award itself but in the numbers. Hinxton Hall increased its overall assessment score from 65% in 2023 to 82% in 2026, demonstrating significant improvements across the Green Meetings sustainability framework.
Much of that progress has centred on people. The venue achieved full marks for health and wellbeing, recognising its commitment to supporting both staff and guests, while also scoring highly for sustainability awareness, with environmental thinking embedded throughout the organisation. Its work around equality, diversity and inclusion was also recognised as a key strength.

For Kat Mace, Systems and Process Manager, the award represents more than a certification; it reflects the culture the team has worked hard to create. Kat says:
“It feels fantastic to have achieved Gold. There is growing recognition across the events industry that events need to be more sustainable, environmentally responsible and inclusive, so receiving this award is a real achievement for us. It recognises the progress we’ve made so far and places our venue at the forefront of best practice.”
For Hinxton Hall, sustainability is about giving clients confidence as much as reducing environmental impact. Their Gold award demonstrates that robust practices are in place across areas including energy management, waste reduction, biodiversity, and social responsibility, providing reassurance for organisers looking to host more sustainable meetings and events.
Kat adds:
“This certification confirms that our commitment to sustainability is real, measurable and continuously improving. Many organisations now prioritise venues with verified sustainability credentials, and achieving Gold gives our clients confidence that their meetings and conferences can be delivered responsibly.”

As demand for sustainable events continues to grow, Hinxton Hall’s journey shows how continuous improvement, clear goals and independent certification can help venues strengthen both their environmental performance and their appeal to increasingly sustainability-conscious clients.
