Our Green Story:
ICC Belfast

At ICC Belfast, sustainability is more than ticking boxes. The organisation’s passionate team works together to put ESG at the heart of every decision. From operations to customer service, green principles are embedded throughout all departments to allow for maximum transparency across the business.

Environmental responsibility is one of ICC Belfast’s eight company values, underlining the dedication to delivering world-class business and entertainment events that benefit everyone socially, culturally, and economically.

Their journey towards sustainability began in 2021 with the launch of a comprehensive sustainability policy. Under the leadership of Iain Bell, Director of Finance, Risk, and Corporate Services, a range of initiatives were embraced which outlined 11 commitments that aligned to eight of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2022, collaborative efforts by ICC Belfast and city partners Visit Belfast helped win an Innovation Award for a pioneering social impact project called Changing the Menu. For Good. This initiative enlisted the help and support of the city’s venues, caterers, and event organisers to help tackle food poverty by directly raising funds and supplies for local food banks and charities.

In 2023, together with sister venue, Waterfront Hall, ICC Belfast proudly received the prestigious Green Meetings Gold Award. This remarkable award has positioned them as the first purpose-built conference venue on the island of Ireland to attain this environmental recognition.

ICC Belfast earned this distinction through its dedication to various sustainability measures, such as sending zero waste to landfill, adopting a digital-first approach, and utilising the latest technology to minimise environmental impact.
